Combating the Peonage System in the South-February 21st 7 p.m

Join us at Archer’s United Methodist Church, 17121 S.W 137th Avenue, Archer for an informative presentation about Frederick C. Cubberly.

Bill Zettler will join us again to present a talk about Frederick C. Cubberly who played an important role in combating the peonage system, which was widely used as a cheap labor tactic in the South after the Civil War.
The Cubberly family lived in Archer, and were all interested in Florida history. Helen, their daughter founded the Alachua County Historical Commission and the Matheson History Museum. All three are buried in Archer’s Laurel Hill Cemetery.

The event is sponsored by the Archer Historical Society and free to the public.  Light refreshments will be served. Come join us! See you there!
